Using Git Worktrees

Set up an isolated workspace for feature work.

Our review

This skill begins by checking whether the agent is already in an isolated environment. If not, it prefers the platform’s native workspace tool and offers a Git worktree fallback. It then checks the new workspace, runs an appropriate baseline test, and reports the path and state before feature work starts.

Use it when changes need to be isolated from an active working tree or when a larger plan benefits from a clean baseline. Skip it if the environment already provides safe isolation or the task is a read-only inspection. Manual worktrees can create confusing branches and paths when a project has unusual repository structure, so verify the selected location and branch before changing files.

The folder is just SKILL.md; it contains no bundled script or direct network call. The instructions can cause local Git operations and project setup commands, which may install dependencies depending on the repository. Read the current file and confirm the workspace path before adopting its fallback commands.

For installation, open the linked maintainer folder and read its current SKILL.md, license, and supporting files. Copy the complete folder to a skills location your agent documents, or use an installer your agent supports. Begin with a small, low-risk task and confirm that the agent loaded the intended version. Our install guide covers those checks.
